Myanmar Will Start Bidding For Offshore Natural Gas Blocks During The Year

On March 15th, Myanmar’s “Seven-day News” reported that the Minister of Electricity and Energy of Myanmar Wu Wen kai stated that the bid for the offshore natural gas block will be launched this year. The bidding block includes the remaining blocks of the tendering last year and the ones recovered within this year. There are 51 offshore natural gas blocks in Myanmar, of which 26 are shallow seas and 25 are deep seas; there are 38 blocks that have been successfully bids, and 13 blocks remain to be bids. The expired contract will be recovered in blocks AD-10, M-4, M-7, M-17 and M-18. Currently, companies in Thailand, France, China and Australia operate in offshore gas blocks.
