Russia Launches Second LNG Plant In Remote Arctic Area

According to Reuters, December 5 in Moscow, Russia started LNG production on Yamal LNG on Tuesday. its second liquefied natural gas plant. Russia's goal is to start off the first shipment of LNG cargo from remote Arctic Sabetta Port on December 8. Novatec, Russia's second-largest natural gas producer, owns 50.1% of the Yamal LNG project and its partners France Total, China National Petroleum Corporation and China Silk Road Fund own 20%, 20% and 9.9% of the shares respectively. 

Russia, which currently seeks to produce more than 70 million tons of LNG in its remote Arctic region, currently has only one LNG facility in operation. The LNG facility is located on the Pacific island of Sakhalin and is run by Gazprom. Its partner is Shell.
