According to foreign media reports, a few days ago, Statoil ASA found a new gas field in the middle of the Norwegian Sea close to the sea area of the Heidrum oil and gas field.
According to the Norwegian National Petroleum Directorate (NPD), it is found that the well is about 9 km from the Heidrum oil and gas field. During the drilling process, an 80-meter-high air column is drilled in the Are Formation of the Bat Group, with a 35-meter air column of high quality sandstone reservoir.
The NPD estimates that the discovery has a capacity of 7 billion to 12 billion cubic meters of recoverable natural gas reserves and they consider using the existing facilities in the Heidrum oil and gas field to develop the new gas field.
